So Many Changes...

I have to start by apologizing for being MIA recently. So many things have changed for me the past few months and my access to a computer and the internet has been extremely compromised. But fear not! I am making every effort to rectify the situation and bring regular updates on my shop, Daisy's Petals, as well as on my fabulously exciting life! LOL! (If you believe that, you'll believe anything!)

Let me fill you in on what I've been up to. Here's the quick run-down...

Within the past couple of months I have broken off a 7 year relationship (and engagement), moved back t
o my parent's house, found the love of my life, went on a canoe trip to the Boundary Waters of Minnesota with my new man, moved in with said love of my life (who is located an hour and a half from anything I've ever known), been feverishly looking for a job in my new location, and in the meantime have been commuting that hour and a half back to civilization every day to work. To say I've been busy and stressed out is an understatement, but my life is nearly perfect now. The final piece of the puzzle is getting that job. Once that's in place, I can die happy! LOL!

So that should bring you up to speed with me. As far as Daisy's Petals goes, I've got a SALE going on for November. It's Christmas shopping season & I want to offer you a little something in return for coming to
Daisy's Petals. So.......Receive 15% OFF any order over $30 all month! (I'll refund you through PayPal). Come take a look at the unique pieces I've created & cross some names off of that list!

That's it for now. Make sure you stop by Daisy's Petals this month for great jewelry & fantastic savings! Oh - by the way, the scene pictured above is a photo I took a couple weeks ago on a hike right near my new home. How could I not be happy?

Back to School Sale!

No one wants to admit it (well at least not students!), but all of that Summer fun is coming to an end and school will soon be back in session. There are just a few weeks left to get in those vacations, beach trips, and amusement park rides. It's always sad to see the end of such a fun, event-filled, free-spirited season, but I prefer to look forward to all the changes Autumn will bring.

To help ease your transition from Summer to Fall, Daisy's Petals is hosting a Back-to-School Sale! Through August 31 you will receive 10% off your entire order! That includes everything - sale items, new items, summer styles - EVERYTHING!

So stop by, pick out something new for school & save a bit while you're at it!

A Huge Thank You

I'm back from a fabulous mini-getaway at my brother's house & I can't tell you how much fun I had with my two nieces, Juliana & Arianna. They're 3 & 1 years old and they have so much energy and imagination! We played, told stories, "painted" our nails, pretended to ski & fish, had a bonfire, & baked a cake. Juliana went on her first carnival ride, the Tilt-A-World, at the Ottawa River Fest and loved it! I'm going to miss seeing their cute little faces & hearing their goofy little laughs every day. They're both absolutely delightful!

I can't forget to thank my brother, Dan, for tolerating my presence, although I hope I wasn't too much of a burden! Even though he's the complete opposite of me in many ways, we get along so well. Hopefully next time we'll have more time to hike or fish!

I have to give a HUGE thank you to my sister-in-law, Marti for taking me in for the week. She is an absolute saint! Aside from raising her two little ones, Marti cares full time for her mom, who is suffering from MS. She does everything she can to ease her mother's pain, spending hours working her muscles, feeding her, bringing her to physical therapy, bathing her, and so on. She sleeps on the floor of her mother's room every night so that she is available every two hours to adjust her mom's position in bed. With all of this, she never neglects her daughters, always finding time to cut their food into shapes, have camp-outs in the backyard, & make crafts of all types. She continuously thinks about what more she can do, for her mom, her children, my brother, and anyone else she knows. I feel so blessed to have a sister-in-law like Marti. She is someone I aspire to be. Thank you, Marti, most of all!

Blueberries Coming Out of My Ears

So this weekend I was lucky enough to be given a HUGE amount of freshly picked blueberries. Friends had gone to Michigan, as they do every year, for the seasonal picking event. They came home with pounds & pounds of the delightful little berries, and thankfully, were kind enough to share.

I LOVE blueberries, and with so many in my hands at one time, I began to dream in blue. Really! That's how deep my love is for them. I kid you not! All the ways to eat them...blueberry pierogi, blueberry muffins & pancakes, blueberries in my Cheerios, blueberries in a fruit salad, and of course, blueberry pie. But I had to choose just one...for today, anyway.

And blueberry pie it was! I've made just one other pie in my life, but let me tell you, this pie was so perfectly put together, had the most enticing aroma, and tasted like heaven! I may be exaggerating a little, but you get the idea. It was delicious! So good, in fact, that I want to share the recipe with all of you! I found it on Allrecipes.com, where I find many great recipes. This particular recipe calls for a pre-made crust, but
I actually created my own. You can choose whatever is easiest. Bon apetite!

And So It Begins...

My first blog post. My FIRST POST! Wow! I never thought this day would come! But here it is! After sitting with my laptop for (what seems like) months, writing and erasing and writing and erasing and reading and downloading, uploading, canceling, changing (and many times pulling out my hair!) just designing my new blog, I suddenly realized I didn't have anything to write about. What could I possibly have to say? I'm kind of the quiet, shy type (until you get to know me!) and absolutely despise having to talk about myself. So what can I share with you? What can possibly be so interesting in my somewhat dull, secluded, and uneventful suburban Chicago life that I would feel the need to pass it on to complete strangers? And then it hit me...

TONS! LOTS! LOADS! E V E R Y T H I N G!!!

I may not be the most exciting person on earth, but I'm not all that dull, either! This blog is going to introduce you, bit by bit, to the things that make me me and that make me happy to be me! From my Etsy jewelry shop, Daisy's Petals, to my garden, my dog, Ozzie, my family, including all of my 9 nieces and nephews, my vacations (if I ever take one!), my occasional finds, advice, and plenty of other useful tidbits. So if you're interested in seeing more snapshots of my life, I invite you to come back for more...The album has just been opened!
